A recent study of 16 mummies (around 3,500 years old) found that there were signs of heart disease.

- Nine mummies in the group showed evidence of hardened arteries and atherosclerosis. The mummies studied were around 3,500 years old.

- Seven of the eight mummies who were older than 45 when they died had calcification, compared with only two of eight that were younger than 45.

- Men and women were affected equally

These types of hear disease have long been thought to be a modern day issue due to the lifestyle that we lead. The only other conclusion would be that the Egytians had their own version of McDonalds back in the day (The Golden Pyramids) that served up high fat cattle, ducks and geese.
